Cold and Hot Roof Systems

On sloping roofs, insulating material is used for preventing heat gains in summer and heat loss in winter and thus fuel consumption caused by the cooling and warming, reducing energy costs, ensuring balanced temperature internal and external environment, preventing any damages like sweat-moldy and ensuring indoor thermal comfort conditions.

On sloped roofs, roofing system is classified as hot and cold roofs depending on where the thermal insulation material is used on the roof. In cold roofs, the thermal insulation is applied on the ceiling - roofing. In this type of roofs, roof spaces are not used.

In hot roofs, insulation material is applied on the roof construction wrist alignment forming the slope; e.g. on the roof with timber construction, insulation material is applied on, between or under the roof rafters. In this type of roofs, roof spaces are used as a living space.
